Our Focus

Women’s Health, Education and Economic Security

Women's health deals with the general welfare of women to ensure that they are safe and protected. Most women in Nigeria face some challenges that affect their health and general well-being. The most frequent issues are sexual and physical abuse, which often result in physical and emotional injuries and long-term post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for victims.

Women, especially in rural communities, unhygienic personal care and lack access to basic healthcare, birth control or family planning methods. In many of these communities, the practice of female genital mutilation (removal of the part or whole of clitoris) are still considered a rite of passage for young girls.

Discrimination against women is rampant, with debilitating consequences. Women are frequently denied access to employment and other economic opportunities which tends to limit their lifetime earning potentials relative to their male counterparts.
